There is no Sims 3: Magic expansion pack, but there are a lot of magical options available to those who practice witchcraft and want a realistic self-sim.
EA released their very own magic item with the Lady Ravendancer Goth’s Book O’ Spells. You can find it in the EA store for 500 credits. Because it’s EA produced it will remain up-to-date with the game for all time.
The spells included in the Sims 3 magic book:
Mood Elevatus- When used with at least two sims in a room, it elevates their moods.
Summon Anamale- This causes the ‘cursed’ moodlet when cast in a room with at least two sims. It causes them to act in strange ways.
Summon- A random sim will show up at your house.
Summon Aquainted- A sim with at least friend status will show up at your house.
To be honest, I’m beyond disappointed with these spells. I can do all of these with cheats, so this is basically the paid for version of a cheat.
For those who are running Sims 3 before patch 1.22 and haven’t bothered to update since, this Sims 3 witch wand is perfect. It adds actual magic, a new magical skill and challenges. Sadly, this has not been updated to function with the newest Sims expansion packs or patches. Buzzler appears to be working on that though so hopefully soon we will have a new version of this for Generations forward. Buzzler is a great creator, so I have high hopes.
Spells for the current incarnation include mischievous spells to make items dirty, cleaning up items, setting people on fire, getting raises and promotions, etc. This may change when Buzzler gets done with the new version though.
Tarot cards that are decorative only. They are spread out and ready for use.
More decorative objects to stash around your house! A crystal ball and various layouts for tarot cards. Great for those pictures with your fortune teller.
For some conversions of Sims 2 witch content, check here. The cauldron, mystic dust with mortar and crystal ball look great. I could take or leave the rest of it, but your witch or warlock might find that useful.
The crystal ball TV lets your fortune telling sim pretend to watch futures dance past. And with the addition of home movies with Generations, your sim can watch other sims and even him/herself!
These altars let your witches worship in peace. They’re classified as coffee tables so you can’t actually worship at them, but they do look spiffy.
These candles would be perfect for pictures where your sim is casting candle magic! Second row down, second item. And, of course, baskets from the same site will work for gathering the herbs you grow in your garden.
I recommend all the bookcases converted from The Sims Medieval by CocoMama. It might be intended for medieval, but it works great for that eccentric witchcraft practitioner. And keep an eye on this thread for other items that might be of use. CocoMama has posted a few floor sculptures that you might like, such as a cauldron and various statues that would look great in magical sim worlds. Don't forget to check all the other Sims Medieval content; you just might find the perfect items that I didn't even think about being for magical purposes.
And, of course, every respectable witch is going to be waiting with bated breath for Sims 3: Pets which will offer cats, rats and a unicorn. Wait, a unicorn? That’s right! Who doesn’t need a unicorn? “It’s pretty handy having a Unicorn around! They can cure certain ailments from bites, getting kicked, curses or even nausea, all with a swish of a tail! Just make sure your Unicorn is rested since it takes a considerable amount of energy to perform these miracles!” Of course, your unicorn could be evil and curse people or start fires, but that’s up to you.
